Colintraive Church – Looking to the Future
Our Church building is to be bought by the Friends of Colintraive Church
A small group came together to form ‘Friends of Colintraive Church’ (FoCC) with the aim of acquiring the church building for the Community. The Kirk Session has recently agreed that FoCC may purchase the Church building at market valuation.
A Feasibility Study by AGL Architects and a Business Plan by Helen Terry Associates has been completed, paid for by using funds raised from the Architectural Heritage Foundation (AHF), Cruach Mhor Windfarm and the Col-Glen Community Council. More about this document will be shared at the Open Meeting as it is quite detailed in the plans and funds for the next few years.
What does FoCC plan to do?
The FOCC plans to adapt the Church building into TidesMeet - a small, flexible, tranquil space and a venue that we, the community, can hire and use for a range of activities, such as small concerts, workshops, book groups, singing, 'coffee and chat’. A hub where we can meet in a small and comfortable setting, making the most of the natural light and acoustic potential, and complementing rather than competing with any existing facilities.
The building will also be used for occasional worship, weddings, funerals and other ceremonies.
Please can you help?
Grants funding for acquiring the building is hard to obtain in the current economic climate. We therefore need to appeal to FoCC members, the wider community and other supporters to raise funds in the short term. We have raised enough to purchase the building and must now act to ensure we have the means to repair, maintain and renovate the building for today's uses. There are a number of repairs to be made, along with installing water into the property as we plan to install a disabled toilet, for general use, as well as a small kitchenette for hot drinks and snacks.
All donations would be very welcome
